“ACRJ (Asian Communities for Reproductive Justice) promotes and protects reproductive justice through organizing, building leadership capacity, developing alliances and education to achieve community and systemic change. [They] believe reproductive justice will be achieved when all people have the economic, social and political power and resources to make healthy decisions about our gender, bodies and sexuality for ourselves, our families and our communities.”
ACRJ’s blog points out issues related to women, particularly women of color, and reproductive rights. This post, originally on Colorlines, shows Representative Gwen Moore of Wisconsin speaking out on behalf of women and families (especially low-income women of color) who’ve needed places like Planned Parenthood in order to find stability in their lives. Her story is based on her own need for Planned Parenthood when she was 18 and unexpectedly pregnant.
