These days the practice hall is being used for more than just yoga and meditation. We’ve increased our programs and this past May we held several terrific events, including our monthly dharma talk with angel Kyodo williams, which had all of us deeply considering the importance and meaning of integrity.
Gina Breedlove came out to sing, accompanied by musicians Erika Luckett and Michaelle Goerlitz. She shared songs from her recording Open Heart as well as doing some improvisational singing from the poems of Hafiz–a beautiful tribute to poems in The Gift.
Cal Simone, a longtime community member, offered an insightful class, chockfull of information, on the enneagram (a self-assessment tool that determines personality), causing all participants to wonder where they fell on the scale between 1 and 9.
Florian Tan and Zochi Alonzo Young both offered embodied martial arts practices to help participants learn to move from center.
Arisa White’s new book of poetry, Hurrah’s Nest was celebrated with both music and poetry. Guitar player and singer Becca Richardson shared original pieces followed by Arisa reading from her honest and insightful book.
And Karen Muktayani Villanueva launched the first of what we anticipate to be many more Leadership Embodiment practices for Registered Nurses.
Look for new events on our events calendar. We expect that many of the folks here will return to sing, play, and instruct in the coming months.
