Resolutions like going to the gym more often or losing 20 pounds are based on trying to control the feeling that “there’s something wrong with me being just as I am.” This feeling, called Learned Distress, is what your brain uses to automatically generate the negative moments of your life…Sometimes the control mechanism out and out fails. You just can’t get out of bed early enough to make it to the gym before work.
